Logitech Expands Climate Strategy with Supply Chain Decarbonization Initiative
Computer peripherals and technology manufacturer Logitech has officially unveiled a new supply chain decarbonization initiative called Chain Reaction. The program aims to assist participating manufacturing partners in reducing carbon output and optimizing factory operations as part of a broader corporate climate strategy.
According to Logitech, the initiative directly supports its ongoing target to cut Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions in half by the year 2030. Sree Chenincherry, Chief Supply Chain Operations Officer at Logitech, emphasized that operational efficiency and decarbonization remain closely linked, noting that equipping suppliers to cut energy waste and transition to clean power can unlock structural cost savings while mitigating long-term volatility across the value chain.
Program Structure and Initial Cohort
The program will launch with an initial cohort consisting of 17 suppliers. Logitech intends to work directly with these manufacturing partners through several key mechanisms:
- Aggregating purchasing power to streamline renewable energy procurement.
- Supporting supplier-led factory evaluations to identify energy, thermal, and mechanical efficiency gains.
- Hosting technical workshops, roundtables, and innovation sessions.
- Providing co-developed reporting tools to simplify carbon accounting and minimize administrative overhead.
In addition to these collaborative tools, Logitech announced plans to integrate carbon transparency metrics and decarbonization performance directly into routine business reviews and new procurement awards.
Factory-Floor Impact
Elaine Laird, Chief People and Sustainability Officer at Logitech, highlighted that meaningful value-chain decarbonization must take place directly on the factory floor where suppliers understand their operations best. The Chain Reaction program is structured to provide these manufacturing partners with the practical evaluations and clean energy solutions required to lead their own decarbonization roadmaps effectively.
