American Express has announced the rollout of a new high-yield Business Savings account, marking a significant step in the company’s ongoing effort to broaden its integrated financial services for commercial members. According to a press release issued by the financial services corporation, the newly introduced savings vehicle features an annual percentage yield of 2.95%, alongside structural terms designed to remove common administrative friction points for enterprise clients.
The newly unveiled account operates without a minimum balance requirement and carries no monthly maintenance fees. Furthermore, account holders can execute incoming and outgoing transfers digitally through online platforms or the official Amex mobile application. American Express noted in its announcement that the yield is subject to change at any time prior to or following the opening of an account.
The introduction of the savings product is paired with streamlined onboarding updates. Business customers can now apply for the Business Savings account, the existing Business Checking account, or both options simultaneously via a single unified application. By housing both savings and checking functions under the umbrella of Amex Business Banking, the institution aims to deliver a cohesive digital banking environment where commercial clients can monitor and administer their banking products alongside their standard American Express card portfolios.
Eva Reda, executive vice president of global commercial services at American Express, emphasized that commercial clients increasingly demand greater utility and return from their banking relationships. According to Reda, enterprises are looking for competitive financial returns coupled with straightforward tools that automate administrative routines and integrate smoothly into daily operational workflows. Reda stated that the consolidation of these tools gives businesses a centralized platform to handle their financial management needs.
This product launch forms part of a broader corporate strategy by American Express to embed comprehensive financial solutions directly into its membership ecosystem. As part of this roadmap, the company disclosed plans to roll out additional features later in the year, including a redemption option allowing Graphite Business Cash Unlimited Card members to convert Reward Dollars into direct deposits within their Business Checking accounts. Additionally, the firm intends to introduce a specialized payroll solution powered by Gusto, which will incorporate artificial intelligence-driven insights early next year.
The expansion into enhanced commercial banking solutions arrives on the heels of positive growth indicators for the company’s commercial division. American Express reported in July that its commercial billed business grew by 5% during the second quarter, demonstrating matching expansion rates across U.S. small- to medium-sized businesses and large global corporations. Over the same period, commercial customer spending on travel and entertainment increased by 8%, while the firm initiated pilot testing for a new middle-market expense management platform.
