Cybersecurity Startup Hilt Secures 4.2 Million Dollars in Seed Financing
Early-stage enterprise security company Hilt has successfully concluded a seed financing round, pulling in 4.2 million dollars in fresh capital to expand its real-time data protection technology. The investment brings the total capital raised by the company to 4.7 million dollars, following an earlier pre-seed financing of 500,000 dollars secured in late 2025.
Financing Details and Investor Backing
The latest funding round was led by Array Ventures, with participation from Verdict Capital, Base10 Partners, Brickyard, Liquid 2 Ventures, Sequel, the Sarah Smith Fund, and Alumni Ventures. The infusion of capital is earmarked primarily for scaling operations, expanding market presence, and recruiting top engineering talent.
Led by co-founder and chief executive officer William Cielen, the startup spent its formative development period working alongside early institutional backers to achieve product-market fit. Following initial operations in San Francisco, the venture relocated its team to Chattanooga, Tennessee, through an accelerator partnership with Brickyard.
Technology and Market Approach
Hilt specializes in monitoring data movement across cloud infrastructure and enterprise networks without introducing latency into high-performance computing environments. By operating at the operating system kernel level and feeding activity metrics into graph neural networks, the software establishes behavioral baselines for authorized users and resources.
The platform is designed to flag anomalous patterns in real time, accounting for complex behavioral combinations such as unusual access times paired with recent credential modifications. Unlike traditional reactive security solutions that analyze static files or assess threats after an incident occurs, Hilt aims to quarantine suspicious data activity as it transpires.
- Operates directly at the kernel level of infrastructure
- Processes behavioral baselines using advanced artificial intelligence models
- Deploys entirely within customer environments to maintain data governance
Customer Growth and Industry Expansion
The enterprise security provider initially gained traction by addressing high-frequency trading challenges for financial institutions, securing early validation and upfront funding from a major hedge fund client. Since initiating a broader commercial push, the firm has doubled its customer count and broadened its target market beyond finance.
Current commercial targets include neobanks, healthcare organizations, and professional services firms that handle highly sensitive information. Because the software is hosted within the infrastructure of each client, enterprises retain complete oversight of their proprietary data while paying an annual fee determined by active data collectors.
