DACHSER Advances Digital Strategy with SAP Cloud Migration
Global logistics provider DACHSER has achieved a significant milestone in its overarching digital roadmap by successfully migrating its human capital management operations to the cloud. Following an intensive eight-month collaboration with enterprise software provider SAP, the Germany-based transport company transitioned its core HR systems utilizing RISE with SAP. This infrastructure evolution directly supports the organization’s stated ambition to establish itself as a fully digitally integrated logistics network by the end of the decade.
Modernizing Workforce Operations in Germany
The recent cloud deployment successfully transferred payroll and time management modules for approximately 19,000 employees based in Germany. Following the migration, the initial operational payroll cycle completed without interruption, ensuring on-time compensation distribution across the workforce. A subsequent four-week monitoring period confirmed system stability before transitioning into standard ongoing operational support.
While DACHSER maintains proprietary systems for specialized transport and warehouse management tasks—infrastructure that has evolved since the 1980s—the enterprise has progressively adopted standardized software for corporate functions. Finance operations have utilized SAP solutions since 2009, and the recent architectural updates pave the way for enhanced utilization of the SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite.
Digital Integration and Corporate Strategy
DACHSER operates approximately 427 branches across 43 countries, supporting a total workforce of roughly 37,500 employees and generating multi-billion-euro annual revenues. The ongoing technology modernization strategy extends beyond internal process optimization to encompass international acquisitions. Under the corporate SAP First methodology, newly acquired regional entities integrate their financial and human capital frameworks into centralized systems prior to adopting proprietary logistics software.
- Implementation of low-code tools via the SAP Business Technology Platform to digitize daily workflows.
- Streamlining cross-border corporate acquisitions through standardized licensing frameworks.
- Establishing scalable cloud architectures to accommodate future organizational growth.
Through continued collaboration and updated licensing agreements, DACHSER aims to eliminate administrative overhead while positioning its technology infrastructure for long-term operational resilience.
