FreightWise Launches Kuebix AI to Overhaul Shippers Transportation Management
FreightWise has officially introduced its new artificial intelligence-enabled transportation management system, called Kuebix AI, following a multi-year redevelopment of a legacy platform acquired from Trimble. Unveiled at the F3 conference, the software is engineered specifically for small and midsize businesses alongside smaller enterprise shippers that frequently struggle to manage contractual freight modes across parcel, less-than-truckload, and truckload networks.
Rebuilding Routing Optimization
The core innovation behind the platform involves replacing traditional, rule-based optimization algorithms with artificial intelligence. According to FreightWise leadership, legacy routing guides require complex rules and deep technical expertise to manage effectively. The newly developed system relies on conversational AI to handle these interactions, lowering operational costs and reducing the false positives that historically plagued older routing software.
Company executives noted that the platform benefited during development from managing hundreds of millions of dollars in active freight. This baseline allowed the underlying algorithms to learn and refine their output without simply replicating the bottlenecks of older systems. A primary example of this capability is multi-stop truckload planning, where human planners can evaluate various route options on a single screen.
Streamlining Integrations and Analytics
- Kuebix Connect middleware lets business users visually map data fields from enterprise resource planning and warehouse management systems directly into the transportation platform.
- Artificial intelligence writes the underlying integration code, removing the need for dedicated IT intervention during routine data configuration.
- FreightWise Intelligence processes financial data from initial order creation through automated ACH payment, routing funds directly to carrier treasuries without third-party reconciliation.
By capturing a single, unbroken data set, the analytics engine can automatically surface root-cause explanations when a key performance indicator falls out of acceptable ranges. This setup eliminates the need for manual data auditing across separate platforms.
Adoption Risks and Industry Cautions
Despite the operational advantages, FreightWise executives cautioned that artificial intelligence tools require pristine data to function correctly. Organizations with poor data hygiene risk generating false conclusions that can hinder supply chain performance. Furthermore, the company made a deliberate choice to keep artificial intelligence out of direct customer service roles, insisting that human account managers remain accessible for urgent shipper inquiries.
