Roadrunner Launches Direct Canada-to-U.S. LTL Service Alongside General Rate Increase
Less-than-truckload carrier Roadrunner has expanded its cross-border capabilities by introducing a new outbound shipping service running from Canada into the United States. The launch complements the company existing southbound operations and is paired with a scheduled general rate increase affecting its broader tariff codes and lanes.
Expanding Cross-Border Capabilities
The newly unveiled service connects shippers throughout Canada directly to approximately 40 major metropolitan markets across the United States. According to company executives, the direct linehaul offering is executed entirely by truck, avoiding intermodal rail transfers entirely. This approach is intended to provide clients with reduced handling points, quicker transit timeframes, enhanced visibility, and greater operational accountability.
Dave Black, vice president of strategic sales at Roadrunner, noted that the company previously focused much of its network strengthening efforts inside the U.S. domestic market. The latest international addition marks the next phase of network growth for the enterprise, which utilizes independent drivers and a terminal network to serve its less-than-truckload clientele.
Implementing Tariff Adjustments
In tandem with the service rollout, Roadrunner confirmed that a general rate increase averaging 5.9% will take effect on November 2. The pricing adjustment applies across general tariff codes and specific operating lanes. Company leadership stated that the adjustment is necessary to absorb rising operating expenditures brought on by prevailing market conditions while funding ongoing investments in network efficiency and service quality.
Nathalie de Champlain, chief transformational officer at Roadrunner, emphasized that the tariff adjustment supports the continuous capital expenditure required to maintain strong service offerings. As transportation providers navigate higher operating costs, strategic rate adjustments have become a central tool for sustaining reliable infrastructure and meeting customer expectations.
